Celebrate 100 Years of Women's Suffrage in NY

Programs, exhibitions, parades: there are all sorts of activities going on statewide through the summer and fall to commemorate the centennial of women's suffrage in New York. But we in the Rochester area can enjoy two of the more creative offerings, and they're coming up soon. On Friday, July 21st, the inaugural ROC Women's Music Fest will bring Meshell Ndegeocello, MC Lyte, and Joan Osborne to town. There will be local musicians, as well, local women's groups such as the League of Women Voters (of course), and ... female-run food trucks! It's all happening right down the block at Parcel 5. Tickets are $5 each. Check out the city's page for the event for more info.

Those resourceful folks at the Susan B. Anthony House have put together a week's worth of program- ming, from Monday, July 17th through Saturday, July 22nd, all along the Erie Canal from Seneca Falls to Rochester. It'll feature reenactors and a fleet of five Mid Lakes Navigation Lockmaster Boats. They're calling it ... VoteTilla.
